We’d heard a LOT about YSL’s Fusion Ink Foundation. For starters we were pretty blown away to hear that 12,000 US women were on a waiting list to buy the foundation before it was even released. The hype probably had something to do with the face that it was developed using technology used to capture stellar dust particles in outer space. Oh and the fact that Cara Delevingne is the poster girl is bound to make anything sought after. So when this space age foundation arrived a couple of weeks ago at TSI HQ it’s safe to say we were more than a little excited.

According to Yves Saint Laurent, the foundation lasts 24 hours and is designed to fit the lifestyle of the modern woman. That lifestyle doesn’t come cheap though with the foundation costing $97. Nonetheless, the idea is that you apply it once and then it won’t budge for the rest of the day. What’s more, the makeup gurus at YSL say that it’s so good that there’s no need for a primer or a finishing powder. So cutting out those products would definitely make it more of an affordable option too.

GLAMOUR Reviews: YSL Fusion Ink Foundation

Above: Cara Delevigne in YSL’s new Fusion Ink foundation campaign.

Price: NZ$97.00.

Texture: Light as a feather, moisturising but not oily with a matte finish.

Coverage: Really natural-looking and covers uneven skin tone and pigmentation. If you have any dry spots on your skin you will need to add extra moisturise first as the matte finish does tend to be a little drying on those areas.

How long did it last? It definitely survived a whole day without budging and I didn’t get any shiny areas which I would normally get by the end of the day.

Overall thoughts: I’m a fan. This foundation was easy to apply, blended really well, covered my pigmentation and lasted all day.
