At The Style Insider we regularly have new products crossing our desks and we’re always on the hunt for the next best thing. Our Insider Finds is our way of sharing that must-have product that you need to introduce to your lives right now, even if it means skipping your morning coffee for a few days.

I find it really hard to get excited about shampoo and conditioner. I’m not sure why but I guess it’s an essential product that you always just expect to do the job. But this unfortunately isn’t always the case. And while I know that not all hair products are created equal I have to say it’s especially satisfying to find an affordable brand that delivers on its promises.

I was recently sent the TRESemee Keratin Smooth Shampoo and Conditioner to trial and after the very first wash I noticed a big difference with my hair. I wouldn’t say my hair is frizzy but because it’s wavy it does tend to get a bit “boofy” or fluffy for want of a better word. This shampoo and conditioner has completely taken away and fluffiness and given my hair a lovely silky look and feel.

Why I love it:

  • It makes my hair feel amazingly soft without being so soft that it’s unmanageable.
  • I didn’t need any additional styling products to get a silky finish.
  • The different coloured bottles make it easy to quickly identify the shampoo from the conditioner when I’m in the shower.
  • At only $10 for 739ml it’s great value for money.

Why you need it in your life:

If your hair tends to be a little on the fluffy side then these products will definitely give you sleek, smooth locks. The packaging says it “controls frizz for up to 48 hours” but I’ve found it lasts longer for me. This may be because my hair isn’t particularly frizzy to start with – who knows? But all-in-all it’s been a pleasant surprise to find quality hair products at an affordable price.

Where to Buy: TRESemme Keratin Smooth Shampoo & Conditioner, $10 each, Countdown.co.nz
