Beauty Video: Shimmer Shadow For Over 40s

By  |  0 Comments

It’s a myth that you need to avoid shimmer shadows when you’re over 40 and I’ve created a simple shimmery look to prove it. Many women fret that once they hit a certain age, shimmery shadows are off limits. But this simply isn’t true. You’ve probably heard that shimmer will emphasise wrinkly or creepy lids but if applied correctly it won’t. Makeup icon Charlotte Tilbury dispelled the shimmer shadow myth when she created a beautiful shimmery eye on her 60+ mum showing subtle shimmer is actually ageless.

Take a look at this simple shimmer look that will work on everyone – not just the over 40s – in my short video below and scroll down for a few pro tips along with all the product deets.

  • Stick with a matte shadow in your crease. A shimmery shadow can highlight a drooping crease.
  • Steer clear of colours that are too dark as they give the appearance of a deeply set, sunken eye which can be very ageing.
  • Filling in your brows and properly shaping them can instantly take five years off your face.
  • Eyeliner is your friend but just remember to avoid a harsh line by blending it to achieve a soft smokey look.
  • Don’t be afraid to mix your eye cream with concealer to keep your under eye area fresh.
  • You may need to start applying your blush just above the apple of your cheek to lift your face and avoid taking it right out to your hairline.
  • Using a lip plumping product overnight will help you to wake up in the morning with soft, fuller lips.
