NIKE She Runs The Night – Week 3

Well my training has been coming along pretty nicely this week but I do need your help to update my iPod playlist. I’m one of those people who simply can’t run if I’m not listening to some cool music. It may be because I need to drown out the sound of my huffing and puffing (it’s so off-putting) or because it hurts so much I need something to distract me from the pain (it hasn’t got any easier yet). To be honest I was secretly relieved there was no run club this week. Even though I’ve really enjoyed it I felt like I deserved a bit of a break. Although, because the event is only a few weeks away I didn’t want to turn into a total easter-egg-eating-couch-potato so I’ve been out pounding the pavement trying to get a few more kms under my belt before the big day.

I thought it would be a good idea to do a decent run to get my body used to running a bit further than the 5-6km I’ve been doing. So in all my wisdom I embarked on a HUGE 12.6 km marathon (well it felt like that at the time). I must admit I did have to walk up some of the big hills but after 1 hour 40 mins I’d finished and felt amazing (aside from the aching legs that is). Here’s the proof.

This has to be the best thing about my fab new Nike GPS Watch – the fact that I can actually prove to the world exactly how far I’ve travelled and how many calories I’ve burned in the process. It was pretty staggering to see that I’d burned 888 calories (that’s equivalent to about a bottle of wine). Nice!

In total I’ve done four runs this week which is probably four more than I would have done if I hadn’t committed to running the NIKE She Runs The Night event. Logging into and uploading my runs also shows me how I’m doing compared to women my age. So just when I thought I was doing a pretty average job it seems I’ve doing better than I thought. But now I need some cool new tunes to keep me going. Please please please help me out. Can you recommend some cool songs to add to my playlist? The NIKE She Runs The Night 10K run is just around the corner (4 May – yikes) and I don’t want to take my foot off the gas now.
