The New Natural Skincare Brand You Need To Know About

By  |  0 Comments
When I first heard rumours about a famous natural skincare brand with a unique connection to New Zealand heading our way, I couldn’t wait to find out more. Turns out the cult British skincare brand that borrowed the Maori word “pai”, meaning “goodness” for its name has finally arrived in New Zealand and I was one of the first lucky beauty bloggers to test it out.
Pai Skincare has risen to cult status in the UK and after using it for the past couple of weeks I can see why it’s been such a hit. Not only are all Pai products certified organic, vegan and cruelty free but they actually do what they say they should. Not surprising really given founder, Sarah Brown, originally created the brand to soothe and restore her own super sensitive skin. So if you have sensitive skin or know someone who does then this product is for you.
Find out more about Pai’s founder in this short video below and scroll down to find out more about Pai.

  • Pai only uses the highest grade, breakthrough organic ingredients.
  • Pai was one of the first skincare brands to list ingredients in plain English, so you know exactly what you’re putting on your skin.
  • Pai products carrying the Soil Association are 100 percent natural and at least 70 percent of (non-water) ingredients are organically grown and harvested.
  • All Pai’s organic ingredients are non-GM, sustainably grown (without pesticides) and harvested and extracted without the use of chemical solvents. Any non-organic ingredients used have passed strict toxicity and biodegradability criteria and carry a non-GM certificate.
  • Pai is against animal testing and is Cruelty-Free (BUAV Leaping Bunny) accredited.
  • All Pai products are independently verified by the British Vegan Society.

The four products I’ve been using are:

Kukui & Jojoba Bead Skin Brightening Exfoliator, $49.99

An ultra-gentle exfoliator which is designed to polish the skin to reveal a brighter, clearer complexion. It’s also 100 percent natural and is micro-bead free.

Copaiba Deep Cleanse AHA Mask,$59.99

This gentle cleanser has anti-bacterial properties which helps to heal any existing blemishes without drying and stripping the skin of its natural oils.

Rosehip BioRegenerate Oil, $44.99

This oil is packed-full of Omegas which help regenerate your skin without causing any irritation. The oil also helps to restore your skin’s natural balance.

Camellia & Rose Gentle Hydrating Cleanser, $59.99

This super gentle cleanser is formulated for dry, delicate and sensitive skin. It’s alcohol and detergent-free formula means it helps your skin maintain it’s natural pH balance.

You’ve got to love a cleanser that effectively removes makeup and actually cleanses your skin at the same time right? I’ve used natural cleansers in the past and sadly they just didn’t have enough grunt to remove my makeup effectively. To my delight the Camellia & Rose Gentle Hydrating Cleanser did a stellar job at removing all of my makeup while still thoroughly cleansing my skin. Given that this cleanser doesn’t contain any harsh astringents like alcohol and Witch Hazel it’s absolutely perfect for super sensitive skin.

One of the most underrated skincare products (in my opinion) is a good exfoliator. Unless we remove those dead skin cells, even the best products can’t penetrate the outer surface of the skin and do their work. The gel-like texture of the Kukui & Jojoba Bead Skin Brightening Exfoliator was easy to apply and unlike most other exfoliators I’ve tried, this one is actually applied onto dry skin. After gently massaging it into your dry skin you then add a little water onto your fingertips and the gel transforms into a milky texture. After a few more minutes of gentle massage you then rinse it off with warm water. My skin actually felt incredible after using this exfoliator.

I’m often too lazy to use masks but I loved how thick and creamy the Copaiba Deep Cleanse AHA Mask was to apply. The active ingredients in this mask are all naturally derived and all of the ingredients are written down in plain and simple English – not crazy scientific names that leaves you having no idea what you’re actually putting on your skin. The mask comes with it’s own Muslin cloth which is perfect for removal.

My favourite product out of the four I tried was definitely the Roseship BioRegenerate Oil. I’ve used other oils before and they have always left my skin feeling a tad greasy. This Reship oil had a mild fruity fragrance and quickly absorbed into my skin leaving it feeling soft and nourished and not oily. It’s designed to be used a few times a week at night but I also added a few drops into my daily moisturiser to give my skin a little extra boost. Just remember a little goes a long way with this product – you only need a few drops for your entire face.

Overall, if you have sensitive skin and you’ve been on the hunt for products that won’t cause any irritation, this range is for you. All of the products I used were calming and ultra gentle on my skin and actually left my skin feeling amazing. While I don’t suffer from sensitive skin I have friends who do and I know how much of a struggle it is for them to find products that won’t cause their skin to react.
