With almost 5 million subscribers to her YouTube channel, that’s more than Lady Gaga, it’s no surprise this teen is raking in big bikes online.

Bethany Mota, 18, started her YouTube channel in 2009 with a beauty ‘haul’ video after being bullied by some of her peers.

“I didn’t want to talk to anyone. I didn’t want to leave my house,” Mota tells Business Insider. “YouTube ‘was kind of an outlet for me to be myself and not really worry about what anyone thought.”

The young Californian still lives at home with her mum and dad and films and edits all of her videos herself from her bedroom. And she makes around US$40,000 a month doing what she loves best – shopping. Pretty cool huh?

I wonder where those bullies are now? At least we know who’s getting the last laugh.
