Make your own Aloe Vera face mask

With summer fast approaching now is a great time to give your skin a little extra TLC.

Kati Kasza, the founder of evolu botanical skincare is known for her DIY skincare recipes (that’s how she first started evolu) and she has kindly shared another of her favorite recipes for a fabulous homemade face mask. This one is especially great for summer and would make a fun Christmas present. Or perhaps you could gift a friend a small Aloe Vera plant with this recipe attached.

Aloe Vera, Cucumber, Chamomile and Almond Mask

The aloe plant and its juice are filled with vitamins and minerals, enzymes, amino acids, natural sugars, anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial agents. You’ve got a miracle healer here.

This mask is incredibly soothing, with every ingredient being one to reduce inflammation, stinging and redness. I’d highly recommend freezing this mask in ice cube containers for those times when either you or someone in your family needs their skin rescued.

The only electrical equipment you’ll need is a blender or food processor.

A small word of caution: before you apply any mask, we recommend you do a patch test on a small piece of skin to test your sensitivity to it. Inside your arm just below your elbow is a good place.

What you need:

Half a cucumber peeled and grated

Jell of two large fleshy leaves of aloe vera

2 tbsp dried chamomile flowers, crushed

2 tbsp almond meal

Mash/blend the cucumber and aloe vera. Add the crushed chamomile flowers and almond meal.

Squeeze through a muslin cloth or a fine strainer and apply paste to your face.

Now lie down, relax and leave the mask on for 10-15 minutes.

Wash off with a warm face cloth.
