Nothing beats a snuggly night in binge-watching your favourite TV show but after a busy day at the office or a hard day wrangling the kids settling on one television show to watch can be super stressful. Am I right? You’ve forgotten the name of that series your bestie’s been raving about and you just want to dive under a blankie with some snacks, a bottle of your favourite wine and get lost in some great goggle.
NEXT OF KIN
Above: Next of Kin’s Archie Panjabi (left) and Jack Davenport.
This six-part family thriller kept British audiences gripped and that’s why I’ll be tuning in on Monday night at 9.30pm. That and the fact that I love a good fast-paced thriller.
The show follows doctor Mona Harcourt (Archie Panjabi) who lives in London with political lobbyist husband Guy (Jack Davenport) in a real tangled web of betrayal and conspiracy. : “When a bomb goes off in London on the same day that her brother, Kareem, is abducted and murdered in Pakistan, Mona’s charmed life is shaken to its core. The situation escalates when Mona realises that her brother’s son Danish – known as Danny – has vanished from university and is being linked to both the bombing and the murder of his father. With the family facing accusations, Mona finds herself confronted with the ultimate dilemma: how far would you go to keep your family safe?”
MONDAYS AT 9.30PM FROM AUGUST 13
BBC UKTV | CHANNEL 7 ON SKY
Above: Eve Myles as Faith in Keeping Faith.
This series was a fan-favourite when it screened in the UK with a record-breaking five million requests to view it on BBC UKTV so I’m guessing it’s going to be hugely popular here too.
Here’s a snapshot of what the show is about. “A husband, three children and a happy family: Faith had it all. One day, however, her husband leaves for work and never arrives. She discovers he has been leading a double life with a fake identity, bankrupted their law firm and got involved in a criminal underworld, all the time parading as the honest and reliable man she thought she knew. This ordinary woman finds herself having to fight to protect her family and her sanity. This propels her into a lonely, frantic search in which she discovers as much about her unexplored self as her missing husband. Gripping suspense, emotion but also humour and hope are on the menu of this beautiful intimate thriller.
Starring: Eve Myles (Victoria, Broadchurch), Bradley Freegard (Hinterland, Doctors), Mark Lewis Jones (Star Wars, Stella), Aneirin Hughes (Hinterland, EastEnders), Matthew Gravelle (Broadchurch) and Hannah Daniel (Hinterland, Black Mountain Poets)

KEEPING UP WITH THE KARDASHIANS
Above: The Kardashian sisters lining up for season fifteen of their mega popular reality show.
I’ve been a mega-fan of E!’s hit series, Keeping Up with the Kardashians since the very beginning and not surprisingly I’m super exited to see the glamorous girls back for, wait for it, their fifteenth season! Crazy to think I’ve been getting my fix of Kardashian glitz and glam for that long but this show never disappoints. This season sees the family facing some of their biggest challenges yet. “Khloé and Kylie navigate first-time motherhood and Kim welcomes her third child via a surrogate. Meanwhile, tensions run high between the three eldest sisters as Kim and Khloé question Kourtney’s drive and priorities, causing Kourtney to contemplate her relationship with her family. Taking their passion for advocacy to the next level, Kourtney and Kim head to the nation’s capital to lend their voices to important causes.” I’ve been tuning in each week – have you?
SEASON 15 | MONDAYS 1PM, ENCORE 9.30PM
E! | CHANNEL 14 ON SKY
This programme is also available On Demand.
Above: The cast of the hit HBO series, Girls.
If you love binge-watching your favourite shows as much as I do then you’ll love the SKY BOX SETS channel which lets you watch an entire series in one hit – yes! The new channel is loaded with a stack of really cool series and Girls is definitely at the top of my binge-watch list. Firstly I absolutely love Lena Dunham’s self-deprecating humour and secondly the series sounds right up my alley given that it’s basically a modern (and much quirkier sounding) Sex And The City featuring four 20-something girls navigating life and love in New York.
FRIDAY NIGHTS IN AUGUST 7.30PM
SKY BOX SETS | CHANNEL 9 ON SKY
Above: Mystery Road’s Judy Davis (left) and Aaron Pedersen.
This new series appeals to my Aussie roots and boasts a line-up of famous Aussie faces in its cast. Local detective Jay Swan is sent to a remote outback town to investigate the disappearance of two young farmhands. Jay thinks it will be a simple three day job. But it soon becomes clear the teenagers didn’t just wander off and get lost. It appears they’ve been taken by force. But by who? And why? And who is the backpacker missing with him?
Jay – always a loner – now has to work with smart, tough local cop Emma James. Born to a wealthy pastoral family and proud of her pioneering history, Emma’s life is embedded in the town. But Emma has her own secrets – bound up in the history of the town. As Jay and Emma uncover Reese and Marley’s relationships and secrets, their investigation will cause them to unpeel the layers of the town.
Starring Aaron Pedersen (The Circuit), Judy Davis (Feud: Bette and Joan), Deborah Mailman (Rabbit-Proof Fence), Madeline Madden (Picnic At Hanging Rock) and Colin Friels (Tomorrow When The War Began).
THURSDAYS FROM 23 AUGUST 8.30PM
SOHO | CHANNEL 10 ON SKY
This series seems to have everything you’d expect from a big budget, period drama – sex, power, murder and mayhem which is exactly why I’ll be tuning in LOL. The show is set at the turn of the 16th century and follows the unimaginable antics of the Borgias family – which also happens to be more powerful than royalty. The inimitable Jeremy Irons plays an ambitious clergyman and family patriarch who uses his position to gain wealth, power and influence. He’s shrewd and scheming and while utterly devoted to his family he also enjoys the company of beautiful women. The Philadelphia Inquirer describes the series as: “Almost swashbuckling with a cast of thousands, costumes off the charts and enough murder, sex, and mayhem to suit.”

JOANNA LUMLEY’S INDIA
Above: Joanna Lumley in India during the filming of Joanna Lumley’s India.
I must admit I’ve watched this series before but I’ll definitely be tuning in again because it’s one of my all-time favourite TV series – EVER! Born during the last days of the Raj, India was home to Joanna Lumley’s family for generations. Joanna Lumley’s India follows the actress’s incredible journey across India, as she immerses herself in its stunning landscapes, rich culture and spectacular wildlife. During her exploration she meets unique characters, and learns how independence has made India such a vibrant nation. From Humayun’s tomb in Delhi, where her father proposed to her mother, to the majestic Ellora Caves in Maharashtra, these are the sites that shaped a nation – and her own history.
Joanna meets the Dalai Lama, catches a rare glimpse of a wild Indian elephant, and travels to the Himalayas to experience some of the planet’s highest peaks. She also spends time with the Sikkim royal family, witnesses Mumbai’s extraordinary wealth gap, and observes the Muslim call to prayer in Ahmedabad. This is Joanna’s touching tribute to the place where she was born, and as she retraces her family’s roots, she discovers a nation full of beauty and diversity, and is moved by the warmth of the people who welcome her home. If you only commit to one TV series this winter then make sure this is it!
