I Do My Own Waxing: Here’s How!

At-home waxing has always been a bit of a hit and miss affair for me. Mostly miss if I’m absolutely honest. But I’ve always kept up the search because while it’s great to get a professional wax in the salon it’s simply not always feasible. To make matters worse the hair on my legs and bikini line can go from being an acceptable length one day to seemingly needing serious deforestation the next. To make matters worse this overnight burst of hair growth generally always co-incides with a special event that requires me to bare my legs to the world. So over the years I’ve tried everything from wax strips to hair removal creams in search of the perfect at-home solution.

But I finally think I’ve cracked it with the Veet Spawax Stripless Wax Warming Kit. This new kit is designed to give you a professional, salon-worthy wax at home. It’s super easy to use, isn’t messy (hallelujah), actually works (double hallelujah) and the melted wax smells divine. The best part is you can enjoy silky, smooth, hair-free skin for up to 28 days – making it perfect for touch-ups in between salon visits and for those times when you just need to be hair-free in a hurry.

See how quick and easy it is to use in the short video below and scroll down to the bottom of the page to enter to win your very own Veet Spawax Strapless Wax Warming Kit.

THE DO’s & DONT’s OF AT-HOME WAXING

To guarantee the best results, simply follow our top tips to hassle-free at-home waxing.

DO: Prevent ingrown hairs by exfoliating Before waxing it’s always a good idea to gently exfoliate your skin. A bath pouf or a wash cloth is enough to remove any surface skin cells.

DO: Apply and pull wax in the correct direction Apply wax in the same direction your hair grows and remove it by pulling it off in the opposite direction to your hair growth.

DON’T: Try to wax hair that is too long or too short To make waxing less painful and much quicker make sure your hair is the perfect length for waxing. Around 5mm is ideal. Any shorter and the wax has nothing to adhere to – any longer the process is unnecessarily painful. If your hair is too long simply trim with scissors beforehand.

DON’T: Wax the same area more than twice Your skin will become too sensitive if you wax the same area more than twice. If you still have a few stray hairs it’s best to tweeze them.

DO: Choose the best time to wax Waxing two days before or two days after your period can be more painful than other times of the month due to increased hormone levels so try to avoid waxing around these times.
