How To Finally Master Contouring In Three Easy Steps

By  |  0 Comments

If you think contouring is complicated then maybe it’s time to think again. Instead of the carved up complexion that comes to mind (thanks to those complicated Kim Kardashian-inspired makeup tutorials) contouring is actually very easy. Put simply, contouring gives you the freedom to sculpt your face and accentuate your positive features and diminish those that you may feel are less flattering.

I was recently sent the gorgeous new Highlite ‘n’ Con Tour palette from theBalm so decided to create a very simple three step tutorial for beauty beginners. Basic contouring will take your makeup from zero to hero and it really isn’t hard to master – promise! Take a look at my short video below and you’ll see what I mean.

Dark colours will recede your features and light colours will bring them forward.  So the dark contouring colours will give the illusion of depth (perfect for accentuating cheekbones) and the light highlighters will disguise lines and brighten the skin. It really is that simple.

As you saw in the above video I used theBalm’s new Highlite ‘n’ Con Tour palette to create a very simple contour. This palette is not only great quality but has everything you need to get your contouring en point. The palette has two contouring colours, two matte highlighting shades, two shimmer highlighters, a blush and a bronzer. All products from theBalm are exclusive to Life & Unichem Pharmacies in New Zealand and all offer really good bang for your buck – great products at a great price.

The timeBalm Foundation I used in the video offers medium to full coverage and comes in eight different shades. It’s Paraben-free, non-comedogenic, and perfect for all skin types. In a nutshell, it’s a beeswax-based foundation, packed with vitamins (A, E and C) to help fight wrinkles while it conceals under-eye circles and stays in place for hours.
