What’s Face Mapping And Should We Be Doing It?

Do you suffer from breakouts around your chin? Or maybe pesky blackheads on your nose that refuse to budge. Or perhaps you’re starting to see fine lines around your eyes? If you can relate to any of these skin concerns then it might be time to get face mapped.

The ancient science of face reading holds the key to unlocking the mysteries behind most of our skin problems. In traditional Chinese medicine, our faces are an indicator of how healthy we are. Each area of the face (it’s divided into 14 sections) relates to an internal organ or area of our body. The forehead is linked to digestion, the nose and cheeks are linked to the heart, and the chin is linked to the reproductive organs. When there’s an imbalance in our body it shows on our face.

In other words, our face says a lot about our general health and that’s why I think Face Mapping is seriously cool. Dermalogica has developed Face Mapping which uses Chinese facial diagnosis in conjunction with a skin analysis to help you get your best skin yet. I was Face Mapped recently and found it really informative and I especially loved how it provided me with a prescription specifically tailored to my skin’s needs.

For me pigmentation in Zones 1 and 3 (my forehead) is a concern and through Face Mapping I discovered that this area is regarded as the ‘sister’ to the bladder and digestive system. If you experience skin problems on the forehead, it usually indicates that you need to improve elimination by increasing your water intake. So for starters I’ve upped my water intake and started using a Dermalogica Brightening serum, C12-Pure Bright Serum, along with a hard-hitting SPF 50(Pure Light SPF50).

If you’d like to get your face mapped then Dermalogica is running a Face Map Our Nation campaign from now until the end of September aimed at educating Kiwis about skin health. The mapping service is quick, painless and best of all, FREE. Just book in at your nearest Dermalogica skin therapist to get mapped and you’ll leave with a tailored prescription for exactly what your skin needs. You can also do an online face map at facemapping.co.nz after which you’ll receive $25 off Dermalogica product or a skin treatment at a Dermalogica stockist.
