Designer drive

The brief was simple – arrive at Auckland’s Sofitel Hotel for a “mystery unveiling”.

This looked promising.

I wasn’t alone. It felt like I’d arrived at a blogging conference (I wish). The fabulously talented boys from one of the coolest blogs in town eyeseyeseyeseyes.com (that’s two of them on the left in the shot above) were there. So too was Anya Brighouse (centre) from beautifulbedlam.co.nz, yours truly and Aych (one of the coolest people I’ve been lucky enough to meet recently) from aychblog.com.

That’s us again with the lovely Megan Robinson from thread.co.nz on the far right.

Then the “unveiling” began.

Until four bright, shiny and beautifully pimped BMW X1s were revealed.

The reveal was all part of a collaboration between BMW and four New Generation designers who are debuting their collections at New Zealand Fashion Week next month.

The designers were asked to create an artwork that reflected the feel of their collection. Their designs are now emblazoned on four fab new BMWs that will be whizzing around town for the next few weeks.

The designers are pictured here with NZFW founder Pieter Stewart (centre).

Oh and the reason I’ve got such a big smile on my dial (above) is because one: I got to meet Arielle Mermin (one of the Young Gen designers) who designed  the above car wrap and two: I got to drive this flash set of wheels home. Yep I got handed the keys and this bad boy is all mine . . . for the next week.

Pimp “my” ride baby.

Look out for me when I’m zooming around town this week.
