Carine Roitfeld joins MAC

Former French Vogue editor Carine Roitfeld has joined forces with uber cosmetics brand MAC to create an amazing range of cosmetics.

It has become one of the most highly anticipated collaborations in the beauty world and now the full collection has finally been relvealed.

Roitfeld, who only days ago released her new fashion magazine, CR Fashion Book and website, CRFashionBook.com, to the world, is known for her signature smokey eye and the MAC collection reflects this look with dark eye shadow, bold brow colours and neutral lipstick.

At the end of 2011 Carine confirmed rumors she working on her own magazine saying, “I will always be irreverent in my own way, but I will try to use new approaches. I’ve used a lot of cigarettes, a lot of sexy pictures, a lot of naked girls. I will try to do something totally different now, because I don’t want to get bored of myself or to bore my readers. So, if I learn something new today, I will use it. I have to reinvent myself.”

Carine has certain created something different with CR Fashion Book. Her 340-page launch issue featured 20-year-old Sports Illustrated model Kate Upton on the cover clutching five fluffy chicks.

Roitfeld says she decided to give the debut issue the theme of ‘Rebirth’, inspired by her daughter Julia’s pregnancy and the subsequent birth of her first grandchild, a little girl named Romy Nicole. “When I started to work on this issue … I was obsessed with pregnancy, with babies, with new life coming. It’s become an obsession,” she said.

The MAC collaboration is just one of many projects Roitfeld has embarked upon since leaving the helm of Paris Vogue . She has recently also worked with Karl Lagerfeld on Chanel’s ‘Little Black Jacket’ book and touring exhibition.
