If You Only Buy One New Beauty Product Make It This One

When it comes to skincare I’ve always been a big believer in keeping it simple. But when a product claims to boost the effectiveness of any skincare product you put on your face it’s time to sit up and take notice. Elizabeth Arden’s Superstart Skin Renewal Booster sits in a new skin boosting beauty category and regardless of what brand of products you use – it will optimise their results. Yes truly!

How does it work?

It’s said to work by repairing the look and feel of the skin’s surface (the stratum corneum), therefore boosting the skin’s natural defense and the effectiveness of your other skincare products – as a healthy surface layer will absorb ingredients better. In short it helps to boost your skin’s natural ability to retain moisture in turn giving your daily serum and moisturiser an extra boost.

How do you use it?

It’s lightweight and fast-absorbing and is applied before a serum or moisturiser morning and night.

What’s in it?

Superstart contains four key ingredients – sea fennel and flaxseed extracts, to help reinforce the skin’s moisture barrier; glasswort extract, to reduce water loss in the surface of the skin and a probiotics complex, to optimise the skin’s microflora.

Given that Superstart’s claims are pretty impressive, we decided to put it through it’s paces. Here’s what we found.

Our Results

My pre-makeup and pre-bedtime skincare routine seems to keep expanding so if I’m honest I was a bit skeptical about adding another product to my lineup. But after a couple of days I was really getting in the swing of it and my skin was definitely starting to look smoother and brighter.

As a mini experiment I stopped using it for a few days, and I did actually notice that my skin looked duller. The biggest plus for me with this product is knowing that it’s boosting the anti-ageing benefits of my regular skincare products and for this reason I’d definitely buy it again. I also ended up using a little less of my other skincare products which helps to offset the cost of adding another product into my daily regime.
