Three words to describe your NZFW 2012 collection?
Work in progress! (it’s too early to give too much away)

Where do you get your fashion inspiration from?
I am often instinctively drawn to elements from the natural world.  Movies are also a great place to be inspired – where clothing is both in the context of the era and character, also where it is seen in motion.

How do you decide what you wear each day?
I choose my outfit depending on my mood, the day’s schedule and the weather.  At the moment I am doing a lot of hands-on pattern making so practicality and simplicity are my priorities and a big bad apron tends to go over the lot no matter what I’m wearing!

Best tricks for updating your wardrobe on a budget?
Trans-seasonal pieces that can be layered to create a versatile array of looks through the seasons are always a good bet. Investing in quality will also save you in the long run.

Whose style do you most admire and why?
Lately I’ve been loving some pics of Courtney Love in the 90’s.  Unkempt, disheveled and grungy, she could look hard but had fragility and beauty at the same time.

What beauty product would you be lost without?
MAC Mineralize Skin Finish

Favourite everyday lipstick/gloss?
MAC lip varnish colour “Hard Coral” and MAC Stylistics Lipglass  (Tastemaker) seem to be permanently in my handbag

Favourite blogs?

  • Mama Likes by Claire Hammon one half of the team behind Meadowlark Jewellery.  Her blog is all about cool and quirky things for babies and kids.
  • NVC Reflections – sends me a weekly reflection on peaceful living.  It is always a refreshing insight and a reminder about not loosing sight of the bigger picture.

Otherwise I try to keep my inbox as free as possible and check in and out with the plethora of images and info that come through the wonderful world of Facebook.
