5 Family Friendly Gift Ideas

By  |  0 Comments

I like to think I’m a good Christmas gift buyer. I never have any trouble knowing exactly what to get my kids, my mum, my best friend, and the teachers at school. But the one thing that stumps me every year is what to get for families. We have a lot of great families in our network and I love giving them a gift they can all enjoy together, but it’s hard to find such a versatile gift.

If you’re struggling like me, I’ve done the groundwork for you this year! Below are five family friendly gift ideas that are perfect for all ages and encourage some valuable family bonding time.

1. A Gift for the Beach

We all know Kiwi families love the beach, and you can guarantee a beach present will be well used this summer, and for years to come. I love these teepees from Mocka.

2. A Gift for the Pool

If the family you’re buying for is lucky enough to have a pool, you know a pool toy will be much loved. People are going crazy for novelty pool toys this summer – and I have to say I don’t blame them! Who wants a boring old foam noodle when you can have a blow up donut!? Get yours from Ponsonby Pony Club.

3. A Gift for the Outdoors

If you can’t think of anything beyond pole tennis (although that is so fun!) or a volleyball set, I’ve got a great idea for you. Kubb is a game that originated in Sweden and is perfect for families. It’s fun and tactical and all you need is a lawn or a patch of sand and this set from NZ-owned Kubb Brothers.

4. A Gift for the Indoors

You really can’t go past a good game. I like to try and find ones that even the parents will love getting involved in – there’s some great board games on the market that require fast-thinking and logic, and my family and I always have fun playing them. However, this one is my current pick – it’s a remake of an 80s classic and provides hours of fun. Even better – you can take it in the car for something to do on road trips! Buy it at Whitcoulls.

5. A Gift for the Sweet Tooth

If all else fails, nothing beats a yummy treat that everyone in the family will love! This year, my top pick is this fabulous Tasti Tin of Tremendousness. They’re filled with everything you need to make a chocolate almond Christmas tree – it’s a great family activity and then everyone has something to indulge in afterwards! At only $15.99 from leading supermarkets, it’s worthwhile stocking up on a few and having them on hand for those unexpected pre-Christmas visitors!

I have one Tasti Tin of Tremendousness to give away to a lucky reader! Simply tell me in the comments below your best tip for buying gifts for a family and you’re in the draw!

A winner will be announced here on Thursday 17 December.

Good luck!

Thanks to Tasti for sponsoring this post.
