    What makes me truly happy? The sound of music. The aroma of freshly baked bread and homemade cinnamon rolls – pure heaven! Curling up by my window on a rainy day with a good book and a cup of hot cocoa (with marshmallows on top). Giving someone a sincere compliment or receiving one, it costs nothing, but brings about so much joy. Some time out to smell the roses (or the cinnamon rolls in my case!). Sitting back and watching something funny makes me feel positively good and forget any troubles, I guess laughter really is the best medicine!

    Taking pictures of my family and friends smiling gives me so much happiness too. Snapping photos whilst taking a leisurely stroll on a beautiful, sunny day rolls my blues away! I also love looking at old photos, it’s as though I am reliving a moment all over again and it’s as if for one moment in time, life is truly blissful. Jodi Picoult sums it up perfectly in the book Lone Wolf when she writes “This is what I like about photographs. They’re proof that once, even if just for a heartbeat, everything was perfect”

    I find that being grateful for the little stuff makes me feel genuinely happy and that writing down things I am thankful/happy for (or a gratitude tree on the fridge with post-it notes as the leaves) allows me to remember that life is much better than I thought!
