Beauty Review: DIY Gel Nails

By  |  0 Comments

The biggest plus about getting gel nails, despite being able to walk out of the salon without fear of ruining them, is knowing they will look great for weeks. The only downside is shelling out a wad of cash every couple of weeks to get them done professionally. So when I spied a cute little DIY gel nail kit I was super keen to give it a go. What really caught my eye about this particular kit was that the little LED lamp is shaped like a tiny French macaron. The Le Mini Macaron is a kit that comes with everything you need to do your own gel nails at home. Sound too good to be true? Well I thought so and that’s why I decided to put it to the test.

See what happened in my short video below and scroll down for more deets.

THE KIT

  • There are eight kits in total and 16 difference gel polish colours to choose from.

  • The kits retail for $69.99 and are available online or at selected pharmacies in New Zealand.

  • There are loads of different coloured polishes available.

PROS

  • The kits work out to be a little more expensive than one in salon gel manicure.

  • Quick and easy to use.

  • Far more cost effective than regular trips to the salon.

  •  The little top comes off to create a perfect pedicure

  • Unique 3-in-1 gel nail polish combines a base, colour ad top coat all in one.

CONS

  • There are only a limited number of polish colours available.

  • The remover pads work out a little expensive but straight acetone on cotton wool also works to remove the polish.

  • Doesn’t last as long as professional gel nails.
